Bling! It On!

Bling! is South Florida's hot a cappella foursome. Sign our guestbook after you check out our bios!

Maria Maxwell - Lead

Maria was born and raised in Sweden and that is where she started singing barbershop as a baritone in Key Town Harmony Chorus…She lasted 3 weeks…she took her music to her director and said “I can’t do this”. Her director laughed and moved her to lead and she knew she was home. Maria moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1996 and continued her barbershop “career”. The biggest challenge when moving to the US was that she had to learn how to sing in English with English sounding vowel sounds…Oh Boy…so after 4 years in Bling! the other parts of Bling! have learned to sing HER vowels. Follow the lead!!! Besides Bling! Maria is currently a member of the Spirit of the Gulf Chorus where she serves as a Tape Evaluator for the lead section and assists in vocal warm ups.

Kim Griffin - Bass

Kim Griffin joined Bling! in June of 2008. Her love for barbershop harmony started in 1980 when her boss invited her to his men's chorus show. She joined a chapter in Missoula, MT, and sang Lead with them for three years. Life ensued and after a lengthy hiatus she returned to barbershop in 1997. Kim was the Bass of Heatwave (2006 8th Place Int’l Medalists) and Fireworks Quartets. She is now an Associate Director and member of "Women of Note", Region 9's 2008 Division AA 3rd place chorus. They also won the gold at the 2005 Harmony Classic at the Sweet Adelines Int'l (SAI) International Education Symposium, making them the best small chorus in the world. In addition to this, she is a Certified Director, is serving as the Region 9 Management Team Coordinator for 2007-2009, and serves on Region 9's Music Education Faculty. Kim is a telecommunications engineer with AT&T Mobility and resides in Boca Raton.

Deanna Kastler - Baritone

Deanna is a elementary music educator. She is married to fellow barbershopper James Kastler. They are expecting their first barbertot this fall. Deanna is the Associate Director of the Spirit of the Gulf chorus and also is a member of the Regional Education Faculty.

Dayve Gabbard - Tenor

Dayve began her singing career at 5 when she joined her parents' Country & Western band, Three Hits & a Miss, for a set. She has a BFA in Acting from Wright State University, and therefore feels it's completely justifiable for her to be a character. She's been singing barbershop since 1994. She currently sings with the Women of Note chorus where she has served in numerous leadership capacities. Dayve is proudest to have been the Associate Director of the chorus when they won the 2005 SAI International Small Chorus Championship. She currently sits on the Regional Management Team and is the Regional Education Coordinator. In her spare time,-ha- she works for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and dotes on her man, Matt, and her two cats.
